The RYA Powerboat Handbook - £13.99 (2nd Edition!!)

April 2009 saw the launch of the 2nd Edition of this RYA bestseller. Since its launch in 2005 the RYA Powerboat Handbook has become accepted as the overall guide to the RYA powerboating scheme. The book is an excellent resource for both those keen to develop their skills and Instructors teaching the course.

RYA Start Powerboating - £8.99

This book was the replacement for Practical Course Notes and supports the level 1 and Level 2 courses.  The book should be given free with Level 2 courses.

Essential if you are considering being an Instructor



Yachtmaster for Sail and Power - Alison Noice - £19.99

An excellent book aimed at the more experienced boater and those going for professional qualifications.


The RYA Weather Handbook - Chris Tibbs - £13.99

An excellent and straightforward book on this important subject. Chris clearly and concisely explains all aspects of weather. An excellent resource for all powerboaters


The RYA Navigation Handbook - Tim Bartlett - £14.99

Another great book from this well known boating writer and journalist. Tim addresses this potentially tough subject in a straightforward way addressing both traditional and electronic navigation.

Weather at Sea ~ David Houghton  ~ Fernhurst, £12.95

Completely revised; this is the best selling meteorology guide for sailors. It is now the set book for the RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster courses.

 Fast boats & Rough Seas ~ Dag Pike ~ Adlard Coles, Out of print

If you are keen to develop more advanced handling skills in rough conditions then Fast Boats & Rough Seas by Dag Pike is well worth getting hold of.  (The book is best sourced through a library, Pub: Adlard Coles, ISBN: 0-229-11842-9)

 GPS Afloat - Fernhurst - Bill Anderson - £14.99

If you have just bought a GPS and are keen to fully utilise its potential then try this book
