Course: RYA Powerboat Instructors  

Duration: Varies

Likely participants:  Participants come from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience. Those interested should obtain Powerboat Instructors Handbook from the RYA (G19/97)

Course description:

There are three types of Powerboat Instructor

Powerboat Instructor  
Can teach: Level 1, 2 & Safety Boat (if they possess the qualification themselves)
   
Advanced Powerboat Instructor The above plus the Advanced course
Can teach:  
   
Power Trainer  
Can teach: The above plus instruct Instructors
   

RYA Powerboat Instructor: Anyone interested in qualifying as an Instructor should acquire the Powerboat Instructors Handbook from the RYA (G19/97). This publication explains the course and the requirements for those wishing to attend. A Powerboat Instructor is qualified to teach Level One, Two and the Safety Boat Course (but only if they themselves possess the qualification).

To get the most of their course good schools offer potential Instructors the opportunity  to spend a weekend with them whilst they run a course.

RYA Powerboat Instructor (Advanced): A Powerboat Instructor who possesses the requisite experience (G19/97) and who has passed their Advanced Course can take a two day endorsement to be able to teach the Advanced Course.

RYA Powerboat Trainer: Potential Trainers need to be invited by the RYA to attend this course
