David Robson is a Powerboat Instructor based
in the Isle of Wight. His school, Aquapower, is RYA accredited and specialises
both in RYA courses and bespoke courses for a variety of levels of experience.
Aquapower is based in the Western Solent and is a
Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognized Sea School. As such it is authorised
by the RYA to run their course and is regularly inspected to ensure that the
boats, instructors and premises meet with their standards. The boat we use is a
6m valiant RIB with a 90HP Honda engine., renowned for its sea keeping abilities, and fully equipped with Life Jackets, VHF Radio satellite navigation
systems, Flares, First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguishers. David, The Principal of
the school and Chief Instructor is an RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor, has Commercial
Endorsements on his powerboat and yachtmaster qualifications and holds a current Health and
Safety Executive First Aid Certificate.
These
courses follow the RYA syllabus and can be done on your boat or the school boat.
However, if you are unsure of any aspect of your boat handling, courses can be
tailored, of any length, to suit your individual needs. Not happy with mooring,
unsure about going out at night, been on a river and want sea experience, its
