Stuart McNamara's powerboat school is
based in the excellent training waters of Hodson Bay Athlone, on
Lough Ree, one of the largest lakes on the River Shannon. The school's Coastal
Operating Center is in Sligo Bay.
Lough Ree Power Boat School is
an Irish Sailing Association Recognised Teaching Establishment. It is
licensed by the I.S.A. to teach Level 1, 2, Safety Boat courses, Advanced
Powerboat courses, and Instructor courses. It
is also authorised to test and certify candidates for the Certificate of
Competency for Motor Cruising on Inland Waterways.

The school operates its own Rigid Inflatable Boat
(R.I.B.) equipped with a 50 hp outboard engine. RIB's are the rally cars of the
sea. Their high speed agility and excellent all weather handling have endeared
them to rescue, Military and Law Enforcement agencies around the world.
Lough Ree's combination of quiet tracts of water
with busy marinas and navigation lanes make it an ideal all year round location
for Motor and Power Boat training.
The
principal, Stuart McNamara is a seasoned sailor and power boat Instructor with
over fifteen years of experience. As the I.S.A.'s National Power Boat Trainer,
he is qualified to teach and certify students on level 1, 2, Safety Boat and
Advanced Power Boat courses. He is also qualified to train instructors and act
as an external moderator on Instructor courses.

1998 he was appointed as National Power Boat Trainer by the Irish Sailing
Association and as National Motor Boat Trainer by both the Irish Sailing
Association and the Inland Waterways Association with responsibility for the
Inland waterways Motor Boat training scheme for Ireland .
